Role of china in the korean war
By Nov. 1950 after only 5 months of war and the US was about to win. Thanks to it's brilliant military operation at Inchon, Sept. 1950, not only had US forces driven out the North Koreans out of South Korea but they also had taken most of North Korea and the North Korean capital too. China however had been warning the US against not to come anywhere near the Chinese border. In late October the US President flew over to confer with his commanding General Douglas MacArthur about the Chinese threats, but the General reassured him the Chinese wouldn't do anything and he planned to take all North Korea and go to the Chinese border for a complete 'win' and to really humiliate the Communists.
In November as US troops closed on the Chinese border the Chinese carried out their threat invading and attacking the US with 200,000 troops, using their massive infantry attacks, since they didn't have much of an air force and tanks.
Due to this, the US/UN forces were out numbered, as they responded with air and naval power but were driven all the way out of North Korea and lost the South Korean capital again before the lines stabilized with lots of fresh troops from the US.
The US commanding General wanted massive US bombing raids on Chinese cities, nuclear weapons, and for US troops to invade giant China but the US President forbid it and eventually fired the General from command due to his foolish act, I believe this was a correct decision made by the president, since who knows what would've happen if he'd still been in command. The implications, that I can draw from the intervene of China would be that they just saved North Korea from getting captured, and China was essential for the continuation of North Korea or else we would've been ruling North Korea, if General MacArthur wasn't foolish enough to not respect the order of Henry Truman and not heed the warnings of the Chinese.
